“This is the 5th year the CCNA award has been given in honor of someone who goes above and beyond expectations to help build a stronger, collaborative and welcoming neighborhood centric community.
Prior recipients have been Marlon Brown, Nancy Kelly, Jen Ahearn Koch, Lou Costa and last year’s lifetime achievement award winners Mollie Cardamone and Linda Holland.
This award started out as something decided at the board level in year one. It quickly became a membership wide participation opportunity. Each year more and more neighborhoods take the time to nominate someone they see as going the extra mile to provide extraordinary service to their fellow residents of this amazing city we call home.
This year’s award goes to someone that goes above and beyond for CCNA and the neighborhoods. They are always at CCNA member meetings early to set up and stay late to tear down. They take on tasks that nobody else wants or knows how to do for a smooth meeting each month. They manage and set up all surveys needed at their own expense to keep information flowing to ensure all voices are heard.
More importantly this person does not hesitate to raise their hand to join a committee to further our initiatives.. Once on that committee they take on herculean tasks and keep pushing to get a positive outcome for our neighborhoods. In fact, they are willing to help out a committee that they don’t even serve on to help the initiative more forward.
They are always available to help solve an issue or bring an issue forward to city and county staff for the betterment of all neighborhoods. The incredible progress brought forth in relation to the air quality committee is a great example of how they look for solutions when none seems available to help our communities.
In recognition of significant contributions of time and steadfast commitment to transformative efforts emphasizing the health, vitality and quality of life for the city of Sarasota neighborhoods and residents.
Their intelligence, perseverance and love for our community is apparent in everything they do. Please join me in congratulating Ron Kashden as the 2025 CCNA neighborhood award winner.”
