Latest Committee News:

  • 12/2/2025:  City announces an updated website to provide information on the ongoing and upcoming stormwater projects:  Click on this link:
  • 11/18/2025: Hudson and Whitaker Bayou Dredging Projects

The Board of County Commissioners met on Nov 18th to select and approve applications, up to the program cap of $30 million, submitted under Dredging of Major Waterways within the Resilient SRQ Infrastructure Program.

    • Hudson Bayou Dredging: The Hudson Bayou dredging project is moving forward with County support. The City will be coordinating next steps on design, permitting, and scheduling, and will keep CCNA updated as milestones are reached.
    • Whitaker Bayou Dredging: The Whitaker Bayou dredging project is also moving forward. The County did note that their support is contingent on updating and securing the federal appropriations that are tied to this project. They have asked for more detailed information on those federal funds (amount, status, and timing), and the City is working to compile that information for them.
As these projects advance and we have clearer timelines and public engagement opportunities, Nik Patel will provide additional updates so neighborhoods remain informed and can participate.

Background:

The CCNA Membership at their May 3rd meeting voted unanimously to add a new Strategic Initiative to their list of initiatives for 2025.

Purpose:  The primary goal of the Stormwater Resilience initiative is to reduce the impact of flooding and other stormwater related issues to our community, both people and property. The committee will do this by helping to identify areas of vulnerability, ensuring key dredging initiatives are prioritized and funded and by identifying and recommending ‘best practices’ for City code changes. The approach will be to work collaboratively with both the City and County to develop solutions that ensure our community needs are being addressed.

Organization: The stormwater resilience committee will be working within 3 subcommittees as follows:
  • Residence and Street Flooding
  • Waterway Clean Up and Dredging
  • Zoning, Budgeting and Land Development Change Recommendations:
