The City of Sarasota invites residents to attend Shred Stock, a free document shredding and electronics recycling event, from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 7, in the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall parking lot, 777 N. Tamiami Trail.

Destruction of sensitive, out-of-date documents is an important and easy step in protecting against identity theft and fraud by ensuring that personal information stays out of the wrong hands. Any paper document or folder will be accepted for disposal at Shred Stock, regardless of staples or paper clips.

Participants should place their document boxes and unwanted electronics into the trunk of their vehicle to be removed by Records and Information Management staff and safely shredded and recycled onsite.

This fall’s event is the fourth Shred Stock, and the biggest yet with double the shredding capacity of the spring 2026 event.

Participants are asked to remain in their vehicles and can enjoy live entertainment while they wait for their turn, courtesy of the well-known, sustainability-focused local band The Garbage-Men, who will be performing hits from the ’60s on their signature homemade instruments.

Shred Stock is only available to City of Sarasota residents. Proof of City residency required. For more information on accepted paper and electronic items, visit Sarasotafl.gov/ShredStock.
