Extended Parking Enforcement Hours Temporarily Suspended – Parking Input Session – Monday August 24th
After listening to community concerns, the City Commission on Monday night, August 3, 2026, voted unanimously to temporarily suspend recent changes to parking enforcement hours, including Sunday paid and free timed parking enforcement.
Extended parking enforcement hours, which were approved by the City Commission on second reading under Ordinance 26-5590 on May 18 and went into effect June 29, have been suspended, effective immediately, until a public open house and City Commission parking workshop can be held later this month.
Temporary enforcement hours:
- On-street paid parking: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
- City garages: 7 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. (The first hour remains free when a parking session is started.)
- Free time-restricted: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Increased parking citation fines remain in effect for both time and safety violations. Overtime parking carries a fine of $30, with safety violations carrying fines of $50.
A parking open house will be held to explore future options for the parking program. Comments and feedback received during the Open House will be collected and presented to the City Commission as part of the City Commission Workshop scheduled for Monday, August 31, 2026.
All interested citizens, business owners, property owners, and stakeholders are encouraged to attend.:
- Parking open house – 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, at City Hall, 1565 1st St.
- City Commission workshop – 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, at City Hall, 1565 1st St.
During the parking open house, staff will provide a presentation followed by a question and answer opportunity with questions submitted in writing.
