With Phase 1 of a citywide sound study approaching completion, Siebein Acoustic, the City’s sound consultant, is inviting residents, business owners, and visitors to share their experiences through a brief online survey.
Siebein Acoustic staff have spent the summer conducting field measurements, gathering technical data, meeting with community members, and visiting locations across Sarasota to better understand how sound is perceived in different areas and at different times. The survey asks participants to describe the types of sounds they encounter, both acceptable and unacceptable, and provide information about when and where those sounds occur, how long they last, and how they affect individuals’ ability to use or enjoy an area.
The consultant will present its Phase 1 findings to the City Commission in September. Survey responses will be reviewed alongside acoustic measurements, field observations, and other technical data as Commissioners consider whether additional study is warranted and potential updates to the City’s sound ordinance.
