CCNA’s Commissioners Candidate Forum – September 21st – 9:00 am Bayfront Community Center
CCNA will host a Sarasota City Commissioners’ Candidate Forum on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the Bayfront Community Center starting at 9:00 am. This forum is open to the public and will be recorded and available on our website. The forum will be moderated by CCNA Board Member Kelly Brown. We anticipate all candidates will participate.
The Commission’s 3 District seats are up for election for a 4-year term. Incumbents Kyle Battie, District 1, Liz Albert District 2 and Erik Arroyo, District 3 are all seeking a new term. Challengers Sequoia Felton, District 1, Ron Kashden, District 2 and Kathy Kelley Ohlrich, District 3 are ready to bring their leadership skills to the Commission.
Format: Candidates will sit at a head table with the audience set in rows of chairs. Up to 10 questions, time permitting, will be presented by Kelly. The questions are being compiled from neighborhood members’ suggestions. Each candidate will get two minutes to respond. There will be no rebuttal with each question. Each candidate will be given time following the last question to make final remarks. CCNA will be providing one question ahead of the forum: “What makes you different from the person you are running against, i.e. why vote for you?”

CCNA is a non-profit educational organization. Neither the Board, nor the totality of the Member Associations will endorse a candidate. We will try to provide information on the election process and where informative sessions (like forums) are held.
